Artist Statement
Film is an intresting medium because the nature of it is spontaneous, you capture only a split second, but then ironically that second is imortalized and held captive. Some of my favorite pictures are of weddings when all the bridesmaids are diving to catch the bouquet, and if captured at the right time you are able to see the primal rage on all of their faces weather they are aware of it themselves or not. As a senior at Elmira college it is about damn time that I figure out why I and driven to create what I do. I've come to the conclusion that there are certain criteria that I must satisfy. First off, it must be spontaneous or eradic. Anything that I create has to pop into my head and if I like it I just roll with it, without second guessing myself. Secondly it must be unconventional. Weather this is an abstract interpretation of a face, or a comentary on other social issues, the representation must be unlike those before it. Finally, I think satire is the most important part of my pieces. It is one of the most powerful tools used for coping with situations that are otherwise unnerving and major part of my everyday life.
